ACCIONA Energía has awarded nearly $300,000 to 99 community groups as part of its 2023 Community Sponsorship Program.

In support of ACCIONA Energía’s commitment to empower communities around our renewable energy projects, the sponsorship programs run annually throughout construction and over the life of the wind farm.

2023 is the 14th consecutive year of sponsorship funding for ACCIONA Energía’s oldest project, the Waubra Wind Farm in Victoria.

Community and civic groups in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria have received funding from five of ACCIONA Energía’s wind farms

Notable recipients for 2023 include the Colac Kindness Network who received $4,300 to maintain a ‘Community Freezer’ which will ensure there is nutritious meals available for vulnerable members of the community.

Over $6,500 was also donated to the 1st Gunning Scout Group for their community hall upgrades, a space used by multiple organisations in the surrounding area.

Morning teas were hosted near all of the projects, and community organisations came together with ACICONA Energía representatives to be formally congratulated of their achievements.

“At the heart of our projects is a commitment to community and giving back to the area in ways that make a difference. We’re proud to be here year after year and it’s great to see these projects make a difference,” said ACCIONA Energia General Manager of Brand and Marketing Caroline Bommes.

“This year we’ve been able to increase the amount of support available to the community from the wind farm and support more organisations and worthy causes,” said Ms Bommes.

The next round of the sponsorship programs will begin taking applications in January 2024.
