HumeLink will see the construction of a 385km route in two sections (east and west) and involve new transmission lines and new or upgraded infrastructure at four substation locations.
ACCIONA, alongside joint venture partner Genus, has been appointed to deliver this vital link in the National Electricity Market which, subject to regulatory approval, will have a contract value of approximately $1.4 billion based in part on a target cost, with the work to be undertaken over three years.
Bede Noonan, ACCIONA’s CEO Australia & New Zealand, reinforced how pleased we are to be collaborating with Transgrid on such a critical project.
“ACCIONA has been delivering complex and sustainable projects to enhance the lives of Australians for over 100 years. And we are delighted we are continuing to do so with a project that will not only expand the capacity of the electricity network in southern NSW, bringing greater reliability and affordability for households, but also bolster the integration of renewable energy into the grid,” Mr Noonan said.
Subject to approval from the Australian Energy Regulator and final investment decision from Transgrid, HumeLink will see the construction of a 385km route in two sections (east and west) and involve new transmission lines and new or upgraded infrastructure at four substation locations. For the ACCIONA and Genus JV this would involve the design and construction of 237km of dual circuit 500kV Overhead Transmission Lines running from Bannaby to Wondalga, and the upgrading of the Bannaby 500kV substation.
