• Congratulations to the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing team, whose 2020 International Road Federation (IRF) Global Road Achievement Awards project submission was distinguished as the winner in the Environmental Mitigation category.

It is the second time ACCIONA has taken out this esteemed award, after Brisbane’s Legacy Way won an IRF award for Environmental Excellence in 2014.

These awards are a testament to our core values, as we seek to maximise the sustainable impact of our projects and minimise environmental, climate and water risks.

The IRF said the project was an exceptional showcase of innovation and technological solutions to meet project goals and client objectives. The selection was made by an independent, international panel of judges with expertise across major road and highway disciplines. The Environmental Mitigation category recognises public and private organisations that show outstanding progress in protecting and/or enhancing the natural environment in the planning, design and/or construction of road development projects.

The Awards are recognised as a prestigious industry accolade in their own right, but they also serve to remind a much wider audience that the mobility everyone takes for granted would not be possible without the talent and commitment of our industry.

The official announcement of the award will take place at the 2020 IRF Global R2T Virtual Conference from November 10-13, 2020. Winners will have an opportunity to receive the award in person during the 2021 IRF Global R2T Conference & Exhibition tentatively scheduled for April 19-22, 2021.
