ACCIONA Academy is a gateway for the applicants to potentially become future Graduates with ACCIONA. It’s a unique way to observe our future engineers in the industry.
Due to the success of the program, ACCIONA in Australia have decided to continue to run the program yearly and will also run the program in New Zealand.
Thanks to all how helped coordinate and participate in the program to make it such a success. The program on many levels is a great demonstration of collaboration – one of ACCIONA’s core values.
The ACCIONA Academy attracted 13 successful applicants from all around Australia, who attended our Melbourne office and site locations throughout the program. The students were in their final or penultimate year at University, studying all different fields including Engineering, Physics, Nanotechnology and many more.
The participants were able to get a feel for corporate life in the Infrastructure and Renewable Energy sectors at ACCIONA. The program included modules on:
- Communication
- Learn-ability
- Leadership
- Social Media savvy
- Presenting with impact
- Business etiquette
One of our Senior Project Managers for ACCIONA Infrastructure, Guillem Clemente ran sessions on Project Management training and the applicants were also able to meet with other members of senior management during scheduled coffee breaks, which provided them an informal setting to meet some of the best industry professionals and ask questions.
One of the days included going on a site visit to 2 ACCIONA Projects from different divisions:
Waubra Wind Farm - ACCIONA Energy Project
Ballarat Line Upgrade - ACCIONA Infrastructure Project
To complete the program, the participants were broken up into teams and at the end of the week had to present a call to action on the given case study to a Panel made up of some of our Senior Management.
This exciting experience included soft skills training often lacking in formal university degrees while also giving participants an understanding of what it would be like to work for ACCIONA and a real life taste of the industry. Some of the successful participants will be offered a position in our Gradate Program upon the completion of their degree.
