ACCIONA and Ferrovial have scooped seven prizes in the 2018 Australian Business Awards, marking the successful ongoing delivery of two significant projects in NSW.
The awards range from technical innovation to community relations and project management, demonstrating the combined expertise and experience of the two companies.
The projects are the recently-completed Warrell Creek to Nambucca Heads Pacific Highway Upgrade, and the under-construction new bridge over the Clarence River at Harwood.
The Warrell Creek project is part of a larger Pacific Highway upgrade to improve road safety and transport efficiency while relieving seasonal congestion. A substantial driver of economic activity in the region, over 650 people worked on construction at its peak.
The 1.5 kilometre, 35-span Clarence River bridge is an engineering feat that will improve road safety and also enable tall vessels using the river to pass without stopping traffic.
Operating as the Pacifico Joint Venture, ACCIONA and Ferrovial recently achieved two major milestones on the projects – opening the final 6km section of the Pacific Highway project on schedule, and positioning the final 168-tonne Clarence River bridge girder ready for the next phase of construction.
Fernando Fajardo, Managing Director for ACCIONA Infrastructure Australia, New Zealand & South East Asia, said: “These awards are recognition of the great work we are doing on these two projects, both of which are important for the people of NSW as they promote more efficient travel and greater road safety. We have a strong performance record on both projects, with our highly experienced teams and local community engagement ensuring delivery on time and on budget.

- Fauna drop down structures – Winner for Sustainability
