The Opportunity

Are you a natural leader with a passion for Accounts Payable, for supporting others, driving operational efficiency, and cultivating a strong team culture?

We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Team Leader (a Second-in-Command 2IC) to work with the Corporate Accounts Payable Manager, providing hands-on leadership while inspiring and motivating the broader team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations, offering meaningful support, and fostering a high performing, engaged team.

In this role, you’ll provide daily guidance and coaching, maintain team focus on key deliverables, and help build a culture where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to excel.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of accounts payable officers and seniors, fostering their professional growth and ensuring their success.

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice approvals, payments, reconciliations, and vendor management.

  • Efficiently assign tasks, set measurable goals, and conduct regular evaluations to drive productivity and accountability.

  • Drive process improvement initiatives and ensure best practices are implemented and followed.

  • Proactively identify and resolve issues or bottlenecks in the AP cycle, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

  • Other duties as assigned by the accounts payable manager to support broader corporate finance operations.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in accounts payable, preferably in a high-volume or shared services environment.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or mentoring staff.

  • Ppassion for creating a positive team culture rooted in collaboration, integrity, and continuous learning.

  • Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and standardisation.

  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset.

  • Experience with Cheops, concur expense, SAPB1 or similar ERP systems is desirable
