Up to 250 MW

Named for the Wallaby Creek which crosses the northern portion of the site.

Wallaby Creek Wind Farm is a proposed renewable energy project with a generating capacity of up to 250 MW. The Wallaby Creek Wind Farm will be located in the Narromine Shire Council LGA, New South Wales.

Approximately 10 kms south of Narromine. The project is situated within the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), which is an area identified by the New South Wales Government as a priority region for the development of renewable energy projects.

The proposed project will consist of up to 44 wind turbine generators and associated infrastructure and sits across approximately 8,000 hectares of pastoral and cropping land.

The Wallaby Creek Wind Farm is proposed to connect to Essential Energy’s 132kV Narromine South Switching Station, located approximately 10km north of the project.

CURRENT STATUS

The proposed Wallaby Creek Wind Farm is currently in the feasibility stage. Wind monitoring and environmental and other investigations have been ongoing at the site and will continue to inform project design throughout the development phase, alongside feedback from the community. The project is considered State Significant Development under the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. ACCIONA Energía intends to lodge a Scoping Report / Request for SEARs for the project to the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment in Q2 2022, and start preparation of an Environment Impact Statement (EIS) and Technical Assessments thereafter.
