18 kilometres of water main was installed in sections by six contractors to provide vital drinking water services to a growing South West Sydney.

The ProMac team including Sydney Water and ACCIONA celebrated the milestone with a ceremonial valve turn inside the Australian Botanic Gardens at Mount Annan. Joining the ceremony were representatives from the Gardens team who have worked with Principal Contactor @Vaughan Civil Pty Ltd and the ProMac team that delivered a portion of trunk water main works inside the Mount Annan Garden.

“ACCIONA is proud to support Sydney Water in delivering new infrastructure that will secure drinking water supply for a growing population,” said Gavin Reymond, ACCIONA Executive Regional Manager, Central.

“As the works have impacted landowners and communities, our team’s focus has been reducing our impact.

“Collaborating closely with the team from the Australian Botanic Garden, we significantly reduced the impact on flora and fauna and formed a robust plan to rehabilitate the landscape after works were completed.

“Over the past two weeks, specialist landscape contractor Toolijooa has planted 68,000 plants inside the construction corridor and, over time, the plants will establish and cover our works.

“At ACCIONA, we believe the future of sustainability is regeneration: replenishing and restoring what we have lost and building economies and communities that thrive while allowing the planet to prosper.”

In addition to the trunk water mains, ProMac is constructing four reservoirs, two pumping stations and four re-chlorination plants and upgrading an existing pumping station and reservoir.
