• Seven years after completing the ground anchor upgrade for the Yass Dam, subsidiary Geotech has recently revisited the site for testing and re-stressing works.

In 2013, Geotech completed the upgrade of the Yass Dam. This included the supply and installation of thirty-three 27-strand GEGA ground anchors. As part of the ANCOLD dam safety requirements, the anchors at Yass Dam are required to be inspected on a regular basis.

As a result, Geotech has been engaged by Yass Valley Council for the inspection, testing and restressing (if required) of twenty-one of the 33 anchors located on the crest of the dam wall.

The works commenced Monday 30 March and are being carried out by our specialist anchoring team led by Wes Miller, utilising a custom anchor inspection trolley that provides access for the team across the dam crest.

As with all of our current projects, management plans for COVID-19 are in place, but credit goes to the local pubs of Yass for keeping their kitchens open. Evidently nothing beats a good country counter meal, even if it is pick-up only and the team is eating it back at their houses.
