On May 4th, ACCIONA Energía Australia's Managing Director, Brett Wickham, and Senior Manager of Communications & Government Relations, William Churchill, attended the prestigious 2023 Australian Wind Industry Summit. This gathering provided a platform for ACCIONA Energía to present its forward-thinking vision for the future of renewables.

Brett Wickham participated in a panel focused on Market Outlooks. During this session, he provided valuable insights into various aspects, including social license, supply chains, workforce development, domestic policy, and international policy. The discussions allowed attendees to gain a comprehensive understanding of the renewable energy market's current landscape and future trajectory.

Meanwhile, William Churchill took part in the Social License Panel discussion, where he emphasised the significance of community engagement and stakeholder relationships. He highlighted the evolving community expectations and environmental standards, underscoring the need for continuous improvement within the energy sector.

Key topics addressed during the panels included:

  • Social license: ACCIONA Energía emphasised the importance of measuring and tracking project reception within the community. They highlighted the positive impact projects have on local communities, such as job creation, increased investment, improved services, and more.
  • Supply chains: The summit shed light on the potential for locally manufactured components to meet the demands of the thousands of turbines required to be built in Australia over the next decade and beyond.
  • Workforce development: With Renewable Energy Zones concentrating projects in relatively small areas, there is a challenge in finding skilled individuals or developing a local workforce in rural towns to fill the growing number of job opportunities.

ACCIONA Energía is proud to support these events and discussions as well as share learnings and create space for meaningful dialogue, encouraging questions, and fostering collaboration within the industry.
