Accreditation Issued by Bushan Salunke (GM-SCA) and received by Julia Hay and Srini Narayanasamy
In a major achievement for ACCIONA, the company has successful attained the AS/NZS 5131‑CC3 (JAS -ANZ) accreditation issued by Steel Compliance Australia (SCA), a certification which represents the highest level of structural steelwork compliance for complex structures, technical leadership, and rigorous quality assurance processes.
AS/NZS 5131 is the definitive Australasian standard for the fabrication and erection of structural steel, with Construction Category 3 (CC3) applying to structures requiring the most stringent quality, traceability and risk mitigation.
Achieving CC3 places ACCIONA among an elite group of fabricators in Australia capable of delivering steelwork for largescale, high quality and complexity assets.
Transformational Leadership and Execution
ACCIONA's Mechanical and Electrical team underwent a comprehensive uplift in quality systems, fabrication practices, inspection regimes, and documentation processes.
The rigorous, end‑to‑end accreditation journey included:
- implementing rigorous quality management and inspection frameworks
- driving process compliance and training across cross‑functional teams
- coordinating internal and external audits with certification bodies
- ensuring full alignment with AS/NZS 5131 standards and NCC compliance.
ACCIONA's Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Capability
ACCIONA's commitment to engineering excellence, deep technical understanding, and ability to mobilise teams across disciplines were fundamental in achieving this certification on the first attempt.
Jose Sorto, General Manager ACCIONA M&E, highlighted the significance of this achievement.
“This accreditation demonstrates our team’s ability to meet the most rigorous standards in structural steel fabrication,” Mr Sorto said.
Julia Hay, Operations Manager – Industrial, praised the ACCIONA team on the accreditation, and their dedication to quality across every stage of the process.
A Certification with Significant Industry Value
The AS/NZS 5131‑CC3 accreditation brings substantial benefits to ACCIONA and clients:
- Eligibility for high‑risk, high‑value infrastructure projects requiring CC3 capability.
- Enhanced credibility and competitiveness in structural, mechanical, and industrial project markets.
- Reduced project risk through strict quality, welding, and fabrication controls.
- Stronger assurance for asset owners, designers, and principal contractors.
- Alignment with Australian Steel Institute (ASI) national compliance frameworks.
This recognition reinforces the organisation’s position as a trusted, technically capable, and quality‑driven engineering partner.
A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Srini Narayanasamy, ACCIONA Quality Assurance Manager, lead team's accreditation process.
"Securing the AS/NZS 5131‑CC3 accreditation is a testament to the organisation’s commitment to safety and quality excellence, but also a reflection of the leadership demonstrated throughout the process," Mr Narayanasamy said.
