The Prospect Pre-Treatment Plant project has reached a significant milestone with the first major concrete pour completed.
The structures team successfully delivered the base slab for the Densadeg unit, establishing a critical foundation for the facility. This stage involved 570 cubic metres of concrete and 350 tonnes of steel reinforcement, reflecting the scale and precision required for the build.
The concrete mix was specifically designed and tested to meet strict quality and sustainability standards. It includes 55% supplementary cementitious material and achieves a 23% reduction in embodied carbon compared to the client’s specification.
This improvement demonstrates how innovative design can enhance environmental performance.
Once operational, the Prospect Pre-Treatment Plant will provide an essential upstream process for the Prospect Water Filtration Plant, which supplies almost 85% of Sydney’s drinking water.
Delivered in partnership with SUEZ for Sydney Water, the project will strengthen the region’s water supply system and improve resilience for the future.
