ACCIONA is delivering a major transport infrastructure upgrade in Perth’s South-East, with construction underway on the METRONET Victoria Park–Canning Level Crossing Removal Project throughout 2025.

The initiative will improve safety, connectivity and liveability for thousands of commuters and residents.

Jeff Tyloo, Alliance Manager for the Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance, highlighted the project’s community impact.

“This is Perth’s busiest train line, connecting the outer suburb of Armadale to the Perth CBD,” Mr. Tyloo said.

“The Victoria Park-Canning level crossing removal project scope was to remove six dangerous level crossings between Beckenham and Carlisle; elevating four kilometres of rail – reducing travel times and delivering five world-class train stations to the people of Perth”

Delivered in partnership with the Public Transport Authority, BMD Group, WSP in Australia and AECOM, the project will remove multiple level crossings and introduce five new elevated stations.

Two major bus interchanges and four kilometres of elevated rail will streamline travel across the South-East corridor, reducing congestion and improving journey times.

Six hectares of new public space and landscaping will be created beneath the elevated rail, offering green, shaded areas for recreation and community use.

These spaces are designed to enhance urban amenity and support local wellbeing.

Significant utility upgrades are also underway to future-proof the corridor and support long-term growth.

Safety remains a top priority, with temporary closures and detours carefully managed to maintain access and services.

The METRONET Victoria Park–Canning Level Crossing Removal Project is a key component of Western Australia’s broader transport strategy.

It reflects ACCIONA’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure that delivers lasting benefits for people and places.
