ACCIONA has marked a significant achievement in Auckland, New Zealand, with seven team members recently graduating with international accreditation in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (ISO 18404).

The milestone reflects the Eastern Busway Alliance’s commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence across the workforce.

Andy Gibbard, Eastern Busway Construction Manager, acknowledged the strategic importance of the training.

“This qualification equips our teams with the tools to drive smarter, more efficient project delivery,” Mr Gibbard said.

“Lean Six Sigma is not just a methodology—it’s a mindset that empowers our people to lead change and deliver better outcomes for our projects and our communities,” he said. 

The Eastern Busway Alliance, with ACCIONA and Fletcher Construction, has embedded Lean Six Sigma principles into its workforce development strategy.

The Green Belt certification combines Lean’s focus on eliminating waste with Six Sigma’s emphasis on reducing defects, enabling staff to streamline processes, improve quality, and enhance customer satisfaction.

The newly accredited cohort joins a growing number of ACCIONA professionals trained in Lean Six Sigma, reinforcing the alliance’s capability to deliver complex infrastructure with precision and agility.

The internationally recognised ISO 18404 standard ensures global recognition of their skills, positioning them to lead data-driven improvements across the organisation.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belts play a critical role in accelerating improvement velocity, enhancing problem-solving capabilities, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Their expertise contributes to cost reduction, efficiency gains, and the development of future leaders within the construction sector.
