ACCIONA is expanding its role in Western Australia's energy transition, supporting Western Power to deliver Clean Energy Link East, a major investment in transmission infrastructure needed to support the State's future energy system.

Building on ACCIONA's current works on Clean Energy Link North, the project will create jobs and economic benefits for Western Australia, while strengthening the electricity network to enable more renewable energy to connect to the grid.

A critical connection point for the South West

At the centre of ACCIONA's scope is the design and construction of the new Cordering 330kV Terminal, south-east of Collie. The terminal will become a critical connection point within the South West Interconnected System, helping unlock new renewable energy generation while supporting the reliability and resilience of Western Australia's future electricity network.

Peter Regan, Chief Executive Officer, ACCIONA Infrastructure Australia and New Zealand, said the project reflects the scale of investment underway to support the State's transition away from coal-fired generation by 2030.

"Clean Energy Link East builds on the momentum established through Clean Energy Link North and demonstrates ACCIONA's capability to deliver the large-scale transmission infrastructure needed to support WA's future energy needs," said Mr Regan.

"By combining our global expertise with local knowledge and delivery experience, we are helping create the infrastructure that will strengthen energy security, while creating opportunities for regional businesses, employment, skills development, and local and Aboriginal participation."

Delivering with communities

"How we deliver major infrastructure is just as important as what we deliver," said Mr Regan.

"We are committed to working collaboratively and transparently with local communities, Traditional Owners, businesses and stakeholders throughout the life of the project. Strong partnerships are critical to successful project delivery, and we want the benefits of this investment to be felt in the regions where we are working through local employment, procurement opportunities and long-term economic value."
