ACCIONA is proud to announce we have been awarded the contract for the delivery of the Singleton Bypass, a project that will improve the lives of people living and working right across the Hunter region.
It will involve the construction of a new eight-kilometre highway section west of Singleton connecting back to the existing highway near McDougalls Hill. By bypassing five sets of traffic lights in the CBD it will remove one of the Hunter region’s most notorious traffic bottlenecks.
ACCIONA has been delivering complex, sustainable, and iconic projects across this country for over 100 years. ACCIONA combines deep Australian knowledge with global experience to deliver a broad portfolio of sustainable infrastructure solutions which currently include the Western Harbour Tunnel Stage 2, the Sydney Metro West Central Tunnelling Package, and the Coomera Connector in Queensland.
More locally, we are currently working on the upgrade of the Belford to Golden Highway section of the New England Highway.
The Singleton Bypass forms an important part of the Australian Government’s wider $764 million dollar investment in projects along the New England Highway. Major work on the bypass is expected to start in mid-2024 and it is due to open to traffic in late 2026 [weather permitting].
