Teams from across Australia came together in early March 2026 to support Clean Up Australia.
From Rockhampton to Yass to Melbourne, to Alkimos, ACCIONA teams were contributing to cleaner public spaces and strengthening connections with the communities where they operate.
The initiative aimed to encourage practical environmental action across project sites and offices nationwide.
Chris Bourne, Head of Sustainability Australia and New Zealand, noted the value of the collective effort.
"This activity shows how our teams can make a positive impact when they work side by side with their local communities," Mr Bourne said.
"The increase in participation this year reflects a growing commitment to environmental care at every level of the organisation."
Participation expanded significantly, with 21 workplaces joining the initiative, up from nine in 2025.
Teams took part across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia, contributing to local clean-ups near offices, construction sites and community areas.
The activity supported national efforts to reduce litter while strengthening relationships with partners and residents.
At Shorehaven Beach in Western Australia, 17 participants from Alkimos Desalination Plant collected a range of waste including bottle caps, straws, cigarette butts and larger discarded items.
Families joined the effort, helping restore a popular coastal area used by the broader community.
In New South Wales, HumeLink East teams in Tumut, Yass and Goulburn continued despite rain, with around 25 participants supporting local clean-up priorities.
The Prospect Pre-Treatment Plant team partnered with Sydney Water and SUEZ to remove more than a ute-load of rubbish from Prospect Creek, working until they had filled all available bags and had not more space in the vehicle.
The Rockhampton Ring Road team in Queensland gathered approximately half a cubic metre of waste across Kershaw Gardens and Canoona Road.
Recyclable materials such as cans and steel were separated to support responsible disposal. In Victoria, teams from the Shepparton Line Upgrade and Murray Basin Rail Project cleaned areas in both regional Maryborough and Port Melbourne Beach, collecting more than 100 cigarette butts and assorted plastic fragments.
A large turnout at Singleton Bypass saw 30 participants from ACCIONA and Transport for NSW gather more than 200 kilograms of rubbish across three sites, including a section of the Hunter River.
The Wilton Integrated Servicing Program joined Sydney Water for clean-up activities across Wilton New Town Centre, Bingara Gorge and east Wilton, recovering everyday litter and even a discarded car wheel.
ACCIONA’s involvement in Clean Up Australia supports long-term efforts to maintain healthy environments near major infrastructure projects while promoting responsible behaviours among staff and partners.
The company plans to continue expanding participation in future years as part of its commitment to community wellbeing and environmental stewardship.
