ACCIONA continues to advance delivery of the Singleton Bypass, an eight-kilometre upgrade to reshape how people and freight move through the Hunter.
The bypass will remove about 15,000 vehicles a day from Singleton’s town centre, improving safety and travel times and reducing congestion for local and interstate motorists.
ACCIONA has achieved several key milestones, including construction of six bridge structures, among them the 1.6-kilometre bridge across the Hunter River floodplain.
Crews have installed 435 girders, 207 piles, 161 concrete columns and 78 bridge decks, with finishing works such as safety rails, deck joints, noise walls and asphalt progressing.
Earthworks have placed around 563,000 cubic metres of material across the corridor and pavement construction is underway.
Two of the six bridges opened in 2025 to allow haulage vehicles to move material along the project corridor instead of passing through Singleton’s CBD, reducing construction impacts on the community.
Activity now focuses on drainage works, pavement works, utility relocations, interchange works and landscaping as the project moves toward completion.
