ACCIONA has launched a Measure What Matters training program in collaboration with B Lab Australia & New Zealand  (B Lab) to raise awareness with, and support, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in its value chain to measure, manage and improve their environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact.

The program provides the opportunity for 50 suppliers in Australia to receive ESG training from B Lab. The program was originally launched by ACCIONA in Spain in collaboration with B Lab Spain in 2022 and its success has resulted in ACCIONA now offering their second program to another 50 local suppliers.

The first phase of the program, which runs over six months, helps the businesses to measure social and environmental impacts and, based on the results, to design a realistic evaluation model that will enable them to identify areas for improvement in ESG matters.

In Spain, 100 small and medium-sized companies in ACCIONA's value chain participated in the first Measure What Matters program. The results indicated that 90% of the companies identified and planned improvements that will positively impact their CO2 footprint; 82% of companies established measures to reduce the waste they generate; and 76% of companies designed initiatives for a greater social impact.

Additionally, in 2023, ACCIONA commenced implementation of a new ESG Risk and Opportunity Control system for its suppliers. This new management system will enhance the evaluation of suppliers' technical and economic bids with an analysis of risks and opportunities linked to environmental, social and governance impact.

ACCIONA’s approach is underpinned by their commitment to identify and deliver sustainable solutions, which includes enabling their value chain to be equipped with the tools to enhance their ESG performance
