ACCIONA recently took part in the Defence and Space Industry Careers Showcase, held within the broader Adelaide Careers & Employment Expo in Adelaide. Promoted by Defence SA and the South Australian Space Industry Centre, the event brought together industry leaders, education providers and job seekers to explore opportunities across South Australia's growing defence and space sectors.

ACCIONA used the showcase to connect with future talent and highlight how our expertise aligns with Australia's expanding defence industry.

ACCIONA's role in Australia's defence ecosystem

Danny Parkinson, South Australia and Northern Territory Regional Manager, explained why ACCIONA's participation is important.

"ACCIONA has a natural fit within the defence ecosystem," Mr Parkinson said. "Our experience in delivering major infrastructure and complex projects positions us to play a significant role in supporting Australia's defence industries."

The event formed part of the South Australian Defence Industry Workforce and Skills Action Plan, bringing together major defence companies, industry specialists and education providers to engage with students, graduates and jobseekers.

South Australia's growing defence and space sectors

ACCIONA's presence at the showcase reflects the company's alignment with the infrastructure demands of Australia's defence initiatives, including projects that require advanced engineering, construction and energy solutions.

The showcase attracted a wide range of attendees exploring career pathways in defence and space, from naval shipbuilding and cybersecurity to mission operations and advanced manufacturing.

With more than 500 companies active in these sectors, South Australia is expected to see its defence workforce grow by over 10,000 roles in the next two decades. ACCIONA's involvement highlights the importance of infrastructure providers in enabling the state's defence and space ambitions.

Looking ahead: infrastructure for Australia's defence future

The company's expertise in delivering large-scale, complex projects positions it to contribute to the facilities and systems required to support these industries.

Looking ahead, ACCIONA plans to continue engaging with initiatives that connect industry with future talent, ensuring the capabilities needed for Australia's defence and space programs are supported by sustainable infrastructure solutions.
