ACCIONA Energía is proud to announce that our Managing Director, Brett Wickham, has been elected to the Board of the Clean Energy Council (CEC), Australia’s leading renewable energy association, following its Annual General Meeting in November 2024. In a highly competitive election with 36 candidates, Brett’s appointment to a three-year term reflects the trust and confidence of the CEC’s membership in his vision and leadership.

Brett’s election comes at a pivotal moment for Australia’s renewable energy sector. As the head of ACCIONA Energía, a major investor, constructor, and operator in the industry, Brett brings decades of experience to the CEC Board. His role will focus on amplifying the positive contributions of renewable energy to policy and decision-makers, ensuring the sector’s voice is heard as Australia navigates the energy transition.

“Our industry is at a critical juncture,” said Brett Wickham. “I’m honored to join the CEC Board and support our industry body in being the strongest advocate possible, securing certainty for the future of the energy transition.”

Brett is committed to strengthening the CEC’s role as a vibrant and effective organisation that supports its members and drives meaningful change. His priorities include:

  • Ensuring the CEC is strategically equipped to address political challenges and defend the legitimacy of the renewable energy sector.
  • Guiding efforts to rebuild the sector’s social license, particularly in regional Australia.
  • Advocating for the transformative role of renewable energy in creating long-term careers, reducing carbon emissions, and investing in Australia’s regions.
  • Aligning the CEC’s advocacy and policy agenda with members’ needs, including emerging priorities like industrial relations.
  • Fostering greater member involvement in shaping the CEC’s strategy and advocacy efforts.

Brett’s appointment illustrates ACCIONA Energía’s commitment to leading Australia’s clean energy future. As a CEC Board Member, he will work tirelessly to advance a sustainable and inclusive energy transition that benefits communities, businesses, and the environment.
