Pacific National Parkes Logistics Terminal - Stage 1

Pacific National’s Parkes Logistics Terminal sits on 365 hectares within the 600 hectare national logistics hub in Parkes, New South Wales, Australia.

In the first stage, the terminal will predominantly act as a transfer facility for the purposes of maximising double stacked trains for the east/west freight movements, thereby alleviating heavy haulage traffic and carbon pollution in general through more efficient train and truck movements.

Coleman Rail and its design partner BG&E were awarded the contract to build the civil and rail related infrastructure for Stage 1 of the Pacific National Parkes Logistic Terminal. Construction commenced in September 2018 with practical completion achieved in late August 2019.

Stage 1 works included substantial civil and earthworks with the construction of over 3.2km of new track/sidings, mainline tie-in, hardstand pavement areas, drainage, terminal lighting works, installation of utility services and associated office building, staff amenities and car parking.

Operations commenced on 10 October 2019 with the first double stacked freight train departing for Perth. The terminal was officially opened later that month.
