The Broadway Subway Project is one of the largest public transit investments in British Columbia's history, extending Vancouver's SkyTrain network along one of the busiest transportation corridors in the province. The project will improve access to jobs, education, healthcare, and housing while supporting sustainable growth along the Broadway Corridor.
ACCIONA, as part of Broadway Subway Project Corporation, is leading the design, construction, and financing of the 5.7-kilometre extension of the Millennium Line, expanding Vancouver's fully automated SkyTrain system from VCC–Clark Station to a new terminus at Arbutus Street. The project includes approximately 5 kilometres of twin-bored tunnel, six new underground stations, and 700 metres of elevated guideway connecting the extension to the existing SkyTrain network.
Constructing major transit infrastructure beneath one of Vancouver's busiest urban corridors presented significant engineering and construction challenges. The alignment passes below a densely developed area that includes residential neighbourhoods, schools, Vancouver City Hall, major commercial districts, and one of Canada's largest healthcare centres. Careful planning, advanced tunnelling techniques, and extensive stakeholder coordination have been essential to minimizing disruption while maintaining access for businesses, residents, and institutions throughout construction.
Once complete, the Broadway Subway Project will transform travel along one of Vancouver's busiest transportation corridors by making rapid transit faster, more reliable, and more accessible. Reduced travel times, seamless connections to existing transit services, and improved access to jobs, healthcare, education, and housing will encourage greater use of public transportation, support sustainable urban growth, and strengthen mobility across Metro Vancouver.
