The Public Transport Authority has now tasked Coleman with building the Kenwick rail freight facility.
It will enable the current rail freight operator Arc Infrastructure to move from the existing facility at Bellevue, freeing up the site for the development of a railcar depot that will be operated by Alstom.
The Kenwick facility will be built on a 17 hectare site adjacent to the rail line between Bickley Road and Intermodal Place.
The facility will include a rail welding area, rail stowage for grinding and track machines, administration buildings, material storage facilities, and connections to the existing rail freight network.
It will also include administration buildings and material storage facilities.
Coleman Rail beat out three other submissions for the works, which are scheduled to complete by next July.
