ACCIONA's Gunning wind farm offers $5000 tertiary scholarship for local student

13/09/2013

Gunning Wind Farm Site Manager Craig Simon said the scholarship reflects ACCIONA’s commitment to the local community.

ACCIONA through its Gunning Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund is offering a $5,000 scholarship for a student in the local area to undertake tertiary study in 2014.  The scholarship is designed to assist with course tuition fees, study materials, and accommodation and travel expenses to and from university or TAFE.

ACCIONA operates the Gunning Wind Farm in the Upper Lachlan Shire, a $100 million renewable energy generator which has created more than 100 jobs in the region since it began operating in 2011.

Gunning Wind Farm Site Manager Craig Simon said the scholarship reflects ACCIONA’s commitment to the local community.

"ACCIONA believes it is important to support the local region and invest in Gunning and the surrounding community. We are very pleased to be offering another student in the area a scholarship that will help support them through their tertiary studies," Mr Simon said.

"This is the third year the ACCIONA scholarship will be awarded, with last year’s winner, Olivia Hannan from Cullerin, a deserving recipient," Mr Simon said.

Ms Hannan was thrilled to receive the support. "ACCIONA’s scholarship will help me further my education. I am currently enrolled in a Business Management course at the University of Canberra," Ms Hannan said.

Applications for the 2014 ACCIONA Gunning Wind Farm scholarship are open until 25 October, 2013. All current and prospective tertiary students from the Gunning, Gurrundah, Crookwell, Dalton and Breadalbane areas are eligible and encouraged to apply.
