Applications for the Scholarship Program at Waubra Wind Farm are open from December - March each year. The Scholarship is a one-off payment of $5,000, awarded to a student planning to undertake tertiary studies that will be of benefit to their community. Since the wind farm entered the operations phase, more than $35,000 in financial support has been awarded to local students through the Program.
In 2020, Aidan Hanrahan and Natasha Hinchcliffe made the move to study at universities in Melbourne with the help of the ACCIONA Waubra Wind Farm Scholarship Program.
- A $5000 scholarship will help Aidan study a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (Extended Rural Cohort) Monash University. He hopes one day to be specialising in rural health to help those in the community who need it most, but commonly receive the least medical attention.
- Natasha was also awarded a $5,000 scholarship on behalf of the Waubra Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund to study a Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University. Natasha hopes to work in agribusiness with local farmers, once she has completed her studies.
