Orana Wind Farm is proposed for a location in the Central West region of New South Wales. The site is located within the Warrumbungle Shire and Mid-Western Regional Local Government Areas. This site is being considered due to its strong wind resource, access to the Golden and Castlereagh Highways and its location within the Central West Orana (CWO) Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).  The CWO REZ is expected to play a vital role in delivering affordable energy to communities across New South Wales.  The proposed project will assist the NSW government in delivering on the objectives of the CWO REZ.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Location: approximately 5kms south of Dunedoo
  • Capacity: up to 524MW
  • Energy Production: equivalent to powering up to 300,000 households annually

CURRENT STATUS

The project is currently in the feasibility stage.  Wind monitoring, environmental studies and feedback from the community will be ongoing to help inform the project design.
