What happens when a world-class athlete steps onto a major infrastructure project? Isabella Nichols, professional surfer and WSL Championship Tour competitor, recently visited ACCIONA's HumeLink East project in New South Wales to find out.

Trading waves for a worksite, Isabella got an up-close look at the pace, precision, and scale behind ACCIONA's end-to-end delivery on one of Australia's most significant energy infrastructure projects.

From Concrete Pour to 22-Storey Assembly in Days

Isabella witnessed firsthand the remarkable speed and complexity of tower construction on HumeLink East. From concrete foundation pours to the assembly of transmission towers reaching the equivalent of 22 storeys - all completed in a matter of days.

The process involves constructing steel sections on the ground before cranes lift and secure the completed structures into position. Once installed, these towers form part of a new 500 kV dual-circuit transmission line that will play a critical role in Australia's energy transition.
