Macksville Hospital Development (MHD) Early Works – Access Road and Bulk Earthworks

ACCIONA Ferrovial Joint Venture (PACIFICO) has been engaged by Health Infrastructure for bulk earthworks and to design and construct an access road to the new hospital at North Macksville.

This includes a 900m road access without the final wearing and road furniture and the pad where the hospital is meant to be.

    General information

Location: Macksville Hospital site is approximately 3.5km north of the Macksville Township, adjacent to the new Pacific Highway between Letitia Close and Mattick Road, NSW, Australia

    Contract Type: Design and construct

Infrastructure: Design and construction of access road to the new hospital at North Macksville

    Project value: $8mill

    Estimated completion date: January 2019

    Key Features

    • 900m long new hospital access road above the 1:100 year design level
    • Bulk earthworks of the hospital site

    Project Overview

    • Demolition and removal of any existing structures to facilitate construction of the road and hospital.
    • Design finalisation and construction of the new access road from Letitia Close to the proposed hospital site with a minimum finished surface level of 1:100 flood level +500mm freeboard.
    • Surfacing to council requirements suitable for use by heavy construction traffic for the duration of the hospital construction project.
    • The final wearing course installed in the vicinity of Letitia Close.
    • Allow for future expansion/right turn lanes with relatively minor adjustments to the surface and line marking.
    • Relocation of existing services (above and below ground) across the site. Disused services are to be removed.
    • Design for sensitive street lighting at Letitia Close intersection and access road.
    • Installation of required infrastructure to facilitate the required electrical service relocations.
    • Provision and installation of the following conduits crossing the access road for future hydraulic services.
    • Bulk excavation and seal of the proposed hospital site

    Benefits

The potential beneficial reuse of suitable material adjacent to the new hospital site in the construction of the new access road. This material is available due to the opening of the Warrell Creek to Nambucca Heads Project constructed by AFJV (PACIFICO) and the project removing its precast and laydown area. The reduces the amount of truck movements on public roads, reduces emissions to the environment and is ca cost effective solution for Health Infrastructure.
